PARKinATHENS is the City of Athens’ Controlled Parking System, in operation since 2006; its aim is to improve vehicle access to the city’s main arteries (commercial triangle, Historic Centre, etc.) and facilitate citizens/visitors in finding parking spaces.

PARKinATHENS includes a total of 12 zones within the City of Athens, and 4 main categories of parking spaces for vehicles (visitors, residents, special needs and motorcycles).
The system covers:
– 5177 residents’ parking spaces;
– 3463 visitors’ parking spaces;
– 1604 spaces for motorcycles; and
– 1000 special spaces for persons with disabilities.
The controlled parking system in the centre of Athens includes parking spaces:
Controlled parking applies for visitors’ spaces on working days from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; for residents’ spaces and special needs spaces, the controlled parking system applies 24/7 throughout the year, without limitation.
Visitors can pay for their parking space in three ways:

For visitors, the maximum duration for parking is 3 hours, and parking fees amount to 50 cents for half an hour, increasing by 50 cents for every half-hour up to € 2.
For 2.5 hours, users have to pay € 4, and € 6 for three hours.
Vehicles with disability badges are free to park in visitors’ spaces without paying a fee, at all hours and days of the week.
Permanent residents may request a special resident’s badge from the City of Athens, which must be attached on a visible part of their car’s wind-shield. Applications can be submitted at the Municipal Police Division-Controlled Parking Department, 14, Agiou Konstantinou street, 1st floor, Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
