Vice Mayor for Digital Transition and Education

Nikolaos Vafiadis is the Vice Mayor for Digital Transition and Education, responsible for the Department of Technology, IT and Communications of the Division of Strategic Planning, Resilience, Innovation and Documentation and the Division of Childhood, Education and Lifelong Learning, as described in the Internal Service Organisation of the City of Athens. When the Vice Mayor for Digital Transition and Education is absent or indisposed, he is substituted by Vice Mayor Mr. Emmanuel Kalabokas.

Nikolaos Vafiadis is Chairman of the Board of Directors of the IT Company of the City of Athens under the name ” DAEM S.A. ” and Municipal Councillor of Athens from 2007 until today. As Secretary of the City Council and also previously as Vice Mayor of Finance (2007-2010) he envisioned a robust, safe and attractive Athens. He was Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Agency for Local Development and Local Government (2008-2014) and is currently Deputy Secretary of Local Government in New Democracy. Nikolaos Vafiadis is a tax consultant at the Ministry of Finance. He holds a degree in Finance from the Technological Education Institute of Piraeus, with postgraduate studies at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and at the Department of Human Resources Management of Public Health of the University of Piraeus. He is characterised by honesty and directness and, having gained knowledge and experience from his long service in local government, he aspires to make Athens a model city, robust, modern, humane and more attractive.
